Irfan Abdulla is a dual fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Orthopaedic trauma as well as Hip and Knee Arthroplasty.
He is a local Vancouverite having grown up in the Burnaby and Coquitlam area. He did his undergraduate education at the University of British Columbia and completed his undergraduate medical education in Australia at the University of Sydney. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.
During his residency, he won awards for his research in shoulder biomechanics and is the recipient of a PSI grant for upper extremity trauma research. During his residency, he published in upper extremity biomechanics, upper extremity trauma, and hip arthroplasty.
He has completed a one year Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship at the University of Calgary where his focus was the Direct Anterior Hip Replacement and Revision Hip and Knee Surgery. His research interests at the University of Calgary included the cost and fiscal benefits of the Direct Anterior Hip Replacement as well as the outcomes of increased BMI patients in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty. He published in both those areas before completing his fellowship.
Before starting his practice, he completed a one-year Orthopaedic trauma fellowship at the University of British Columbia through the Royal Columbian Hospital. His primary interest that year was lower extremity trauma surgery.
